TRANSPORTATION

Cancun International Airport is located about 30 minutes from the city of Cancun. Transportation options for participants arriving at this airport include: taxi, shared shuttles, and car rental to the Cancun hotels area.

Taxis and Shuttles are located just outside both terminals of Cancun International Airport; tickets can be purchased inside at the baggage claim area or outside. Taxis would be the safest and fastest way to get to the hotel. A one-way taxi journey to the city costs around USD 45, while a shared Shuttle costs USD 12. You can book you airport transportation in advanced at the following site: https://www.cancun-airport.com/transportation.htm. Within the airport, there are ATMs of the major Mexican banks, some of which allow cash withdraws with international cards.

Zika virus in Mexico.

Local transmission of Zika virus infection has been reported in Mexico. The CDC recommends that travelers to Mexico protect themselves from mosquito bites. Moreover, based on available evidence neither CDC nor WHO have issued any recommendation against traveling to Mexico. We recommend participants to PervasiveHealth’16 to frequently monitor the official channels regarding changes in the situation at the CDC website: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/alert/zika-virus-mexico and the WHO https://www.who.int/features/qa/zika/en/.
