“Pervasive Healthcare: Current and Emerging Research”
Pervasive healthcare can be defined as healthcare to anyone, anytime, and anywhere by removing locational, time and other restraints while increasing both the coverage and quality of healthcare [1]. The broad definition includes prevention, healthcare maintenance and checkups, short and long-term monitoring, personalized healthcare, incidence detection and management, and, emergency intervention, transportation and treatment.
Level and Suitability: The level is introductory/intermediate and should be useful to people working or planning to enter in the areas of pervasive healthcare. Professors, graduate students, and industry professionals may want to attend the tutorial. The audience will be provided handouts and slides. We encourage more interaction by allowing sufficient time for questions and comments.

Biography: Upkar Varshney is on the faculty of Computer Information Systems at Georgia State University, Atlanta. He has been an author of more than hundred papers in pervasive healthcare and mobile computing. Upkar has delivered several keynotes and well received tutorials and has also received several teaching awards at GSU. He has been on the editorial boards of numerous journals and is currently serving as editors for IEEE Transactions on IT in BioMedicine and Decision Support Systems. He is the founding co-chair of International Pervasive Health Conference (2006) and is the author of Pervasive Healthcare Computing book (2009).
