Travel Information

Istanbul has two international airports. The larger one is Istanbul Atatürk which is located 24 km (15 mi) west of the city center and handles over 50 million passengers each year. Sabiha Gökçen International is located 45 km (28 mi) southeast of the city center and it has rapidly become popular among travelers since it is dominated by low-cost carriers.

 

By Car

Boğaziçi University is located to the south of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridge, one of the bridges that connect Europe and Asia. The highway, TEM, that crosses the bridge is the fastest method of reaching the university from the airports. If you take the last exit before the bridge going from Europe to Asia, or the first exit after you crossed the bridge from Asia to Europe and follow the Etiler/Rumeli Hisarustu signs, you will land next to the university.

By Taxi

Most of the taxi drivers in Istanbul will know the location of Boğaziçi University. If you end up having to give directions to the driver, follow these tips:

• Try Rumelihisarustu, Akmerkez, Etiler or Bebek. These are locations close to the university and will be probably known by the driver. You can then ask for directions, or follow the signs.
• If you are coming from the Anatolian side, you may ask the driver to use the Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridge and then take the first exit.
• Show the location of the university on a map.
• If none of these work, try another taxi. Chances are the other driver will know the location.

There are a number of public bus lines that goes to Boğaziçi University, from various locations.
